4 Pennies

I'd be willing to bet at some point in your life you've seen one or more pennies on the side walk or in those "give a penny/take a penny" jars, etc. If you're like me you don't especially like pennies so here's a quick tip to help you get rid of them and never get one in change again.

When you're paying cash for something always bring along 4 pennies. This way you can guarantee you'll never get another one back in change (assuming of course the person making change does it properly). Here's how it works.

Paying with Pennies
Total CostAmount to PayYour ChangePennies Used
$1.95$2.00a Nickel0
$1.96$2.01a Nickel1
$1.97$2.02a Nickel2
$1.98$2.03a Nickel3
$1.99$2.04a Nickel4
$2.00$2.0000

Here's an easy way to remember how many pennies to give. Count backwards from the final amount until you either get to 0 or 5. For example if the total price is $2.00 then counting back to 0 = 0 so don't give any pennies. If the total price is $1.99 then give 4 pennies because that the count from $1.99 back to $1.95.

So you about you? Have any quick tips to share?
